Jante and Tait Family Tree
A Brief Family History

How we all got here...

Henry and Dora Jante came from Germany to the United States via New York in 1882.
Henry from "Karenz, Mecklenburg" and Dora from "Barscamp, Hanover."
They settled in Mauch Chunk, (now Jim Thorpe) Carbon County, Penna.
Henry and Dora had 8 children, 3 of these children died very young. Dorothea M. 9yrs, Wilhemina E. 3mos and Elizabeth M. 1yr + 8mos.
The surviving children were: Amelia, Anna, Henry J (my G-Grandfather), George J and Harry F.
Dora died in 1901 at age 39 of Purpal Fever, Henry died in 1926 at age 74.
They are buried in The Mauch Chunk Cemetery at St. Johns Lutheran Church.

The Tait line comes in.... somewhere around 1900, where Robert Tait, Coal Miner marries Stella Reehl. I don't have much information on the Tait side, except that "Robert Tait (my G-Grandfather) died in a mining accident, when my Grandmother was very young." I don't know where this happened, where he is buried or if his body was ever recovered.
I will "assume" for now that it happened in the Carbon, Lehigh, Schuylkill County areas of Penna. His wife Stella (Estella?) died at age 79 and is buried in Mauch Chunk Cemetery.
